Lib Dems gain seat in York

From the York Press:

The Liberal Democrats have increased their strength on City of York Council, after winning tonight's by-election in Heworth Without.

Nigel Ayre was elected with 914 votes, beating the Conservatives' Adam Sinclair, who polled 703 ...

Coun Ayre, who was narrowly beaten when the seat was contested on May 3, said: "I was obviously very disappointed last time, but I am very proud to be able to represent the electorate in the place where I live."

And Heworth Without wins our Ward of Week award too!

The flimsy green plastic bag we have been given to recycle cardboard in is just not good enough. To increase recycling we need propper bins for glass, paper and cardboard, metal etc. Other areas have them and it is about time that we were provided with them. With decent bins you will be able to collect the general bins once a week and recycling bins once a month.
