Name of the Day

The winner is Kermit Roosevelt, who has an article on Comment is Free this morning.

As readers of William Boyd's novel An Ice-Cream War will know, President Theodore Roosevelt had a son called Kermit, so I assume there is a family connection.

I think it was a grandson. At least, he also had a grandson called Kermit who led the CIA operation to remove the democratically elected President Mossadegh of Iran and restore the Shah, in the interests of BP and the US oil business.

Yes, Kermit's son was also called Kermit.

Theodore's second wife was Edith Kermit Carow, which is how the name entered the family.
