Chess: Anand 3.5 Kramnik 1.5


Chess history is being made in Germany, as the world title appears to be on its way to India.

Viswanathan Anand leads the Russian Vladimir Kramnik by 3.5-1.5 in the 12-game match after winning the fifth game. Both Anand's victories have come with Black.

I almost fell off my chair in surprise when Kramnik missed the back rank mate theme in game 5 when it had been screaming out of the board since move 23.

It certainly looks like the title is on its way back to India, but I still think this will wind up one heck of a match for the remainder of the series.
