Has the Coalition given up defending its welfare policies?

Nadhim Zahawi?

Who?

He is the backbench Tory MP for Stratford-upon-Avon and one of those tiresome backbenchers who likes to think of himself as a bit of a character - it's known in the psychological literature as Opik Syndrome.

In fact so poor was Zahawi that Lembit could probably have done a better job. It makes you wonder whether the Coalition has given up trying to defend its welfare policies.

I cannot find a clip of Zahawi's performance from this evening, but here is one where he manages a little more gravitas...
